The Effingham Regional Career Foundation recently recognized Blake Pierce for his service as a member of the Board of Directors. Pierce served on the board from 2020 to 2022, completing two terms. Pierce is the Director of Real Estate for Rural King in Mattoon, Illinois. As a board member, he was involved with the transportation focus of ERCF.

As a 501(c)3 organization, ERCF oversees the operation of the Effingham Regional Career Academy. Serving communities and 14 school districts in Clay, Cumberland, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, and Shelby counties, ERCA offers focused curriculum and advanced, hands-on training in manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare, technology and transportation.

Courses are designed for high school students as well as current professionals, allowing them to gain hands-on education and training in the above fields. The ultimate goal of ERCF is to provide the region with well-educated, highly-trained individuals who are able to work in their field of choice without moving away. As of Fall 2023, the second Explore ERCA program is at full enrollment. The one-semester course introduces students to local career opportunities with classroom and hands-on business and industry training. Enrollment for the Spring 2024 semester is now open.
